Universal Shadow

Universal Shadow presents a sequence of abstracted human forms, derived from images of sculptural figures of the Neolithic Era (10,000 BC to ~2000 BC) from various parts of the world, including pre-dynastic Egypt, France, Turkey, Japan, Romania, Mexico, and Pakistan. These ancient figures morph from one to the next, shifting between legibility and abstraction. They are negative shadows, made of light instead of darkness, emphasizing their lack of connection to materiality.

Normally, movement is associated with living things and progress towards the future, and stillness with death and the past; yet these figures from a distant past move with slow fluidly, suggesting the vitality of timeless things eternally alive.
